Egyptian Discoveries no. 8*: The many beautiful faces of a desert

I challenge you to look at these pics of the White Desert and not get a craving for meringues; and look at the pics of the Alabaster Mountain and not want to go there tomorrow! And then the pics of the Black Desert and not understand why I fell so totally and utterly in love with the desert!

"So in the heart of the desert, on the naked rind of the planet, in an isolation like that of the beginnings of the world, we built a village of men. Sitting in the flickering light of the candles on this kerchief of sand, on this village square, we waited out the night." - Saint-Exupéry

  1. The desert formations are strange ... intriguing. Are they formed by the wind, or are they remnants from an ancient ocean? Are they made of sand, salt, or sandstone? I note the truck drives on right side of the road ... but the steering wheel is not on the left, is it? When does your trip end? I have more questions too, many more, but won't allow myself to ask them ... at least not right now. Travel happily ... are you homesick yet? Oops that was another question ...
